History & must-see highlights
Built with red sandstone and marble, Amer Fort overlooks Maota Lake and blends Rajput and Mughal architectural styles across its palaces, halls and gardens. Its most famous interior is the Sheesh Mahal — the Hall of Mirrors — where a single candle flame is said to reflect like a thousand stars across the inlaid glass walls and ceiling.
Most visitors reach the upper fort by walking up, taking a jeep, or the traditional elephant ride (available at an extra cost) — all three options are available at the base of the hill.
